New eyeglasses for me

When I was in high school I had astigmatism. I needed to wear prescription glasses to correct it. For a year I looked like a nerd in school because my eyeglasses were too big and too old-fashion. I just stopped wearing it when I unintentionally broke it and my parents had no budget for a replacement. And that was the last time that I wore eyeglasses. Until last week I went to my ophthalmologist for an eye check-up. I don’t know if it’s the lightings or there’s really something wrong with my eyes because I can’t barely read my daughter’s medical prescriptions. I had a feeling that my eyes are getting weaker as I get older. My ophthalmologist told me that I need to wear prescription glasses again. I just asked for my measurements because my aunt told me that she’ll be giving me her old eyeglasses and I can use the frame and just change the lenses. When I saw the old eyeglasses, I was shocked, it’s so old-fashion again! There’s no way I will use it! I’d rather buy a new one. But the problem is my ophthalmologist is charging me a lot for a brand new frame and where on earth I’m getting that money.

Good thing I’ve been shopping thru internet for quite a while now. I’ve been buying stuff like clothes, shoes, coupons, and even gadgets. I read about this Zenni optical and gave their site a visit and I found out that it’s where we can find the most fashionable and attractive glasses. You can even find $6.95 prescription eyeglasses and still look fab. Ordering is so easy. You just need to give your measurements and choose your frame, wait for a week, and your eyeglasses will be delivered at your doorsteps. Their wide varieties of frames come in different styles, colors and shapes. And they come with free anti-scratch coating, full UV protection, microfiber cleansing cloth, and protective case. Here are the styles that I’m checking-out:

604322 Acetate Full-Rim Frame with Design on Temples
258317 Flexible Plastic Full Rim Frame

Aren’t they so cute? Zenni optical uses high quality materials from stainless steel to titanium making them so durable. I’ve been thinking of getting two pairs. I’m pretty sure that these will butter up my wardrobe. Shipping is only $4.95 regardless of how many you get and since I live outside US, shipping will only cost me $9.95. Not bad at all. If you already bought a pair from Zenni, why not  Share your Zenni story too.

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have. ~ Frederick Keonig

Urban Clothing

When I heard the online brand name Matix Clothing, I search for it and found out that it has become a source of the basic surf style clothing. From board shorts to jeans, t-shirts, beanies, belts, and wallets, Matix has been steadily bringing us the newest and hottest styles of outfits.

Matix Clothing was founded by pro skateboarders Daewon Song and Tim Gavin and later on it has expanded and aside from providing fashionable wear, it brings us the lowest prices on the web for sporting goods, sunglasses and much more – shipping is free for items over $25!

One of the most popular styles of clothing nowadays is the urban style. I love the urban style because it depends on how you preferred to look. A simple shirt paired with welder pants and accessorized with a beanie and you’re all set. And as Christmas is past approaching, I’ve been taking into account Matix clothes and planning to shop for a black scrimmage tank for my dad. I don’t know, but my old dad had developed a fad for urban clothing. A second childhood maybe?  lol.

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

Giving thanks means letting the world know you don’t entertain negativity in your life and you are more positive of showing your gratitude of what life offers to you. If you think of negative thoughts, you will just continue bringing negative thoughts to your life. But if you start finding ways on how to be thankful, you will see a world of possibilities.
.
When I started this practice of finding ways to be thankful, the more blessings came pouring in. More reasons to be thankful started showing up and I began to enjoy life more.

Though I’m a bit late again, here’s my top 10:
  1. My son’s 2nd Birthday!
  2. My daughter Helenia for making it top 8 this quarter when last quarter she’s top 10
  3. My eldest daughter Mikaela for learning how to cook and for waking up early everyday
  4. Smart for giving me free gold ticket for the Black Eyed Peas concert,
  5. Free overnight accommodation at Traders Hotel
  6. A bundle of chocolates from Mrs. Guericke,
  7. My FB friends who helped me by liking the Snickers’ site, because of them I got 8 Snickers,
  8. Colgate for sending me freebies,
  9. For winning at Ramsign House Number Giveaway,
  10. Finishing my Helenia’s “Tomb Raider” trick or treat costume.

Helenia's 7th Birthday

Uh-oh...

My daughter Helenia's 7th Birthday was celebrated with a blessing. It rained hard. But believe me, I never saw any disappointment coming from my Helenia. She's still as funny and lively as ever. She's very cooperative, she entertained guests and always posing for a camera shot. And the happiest person was me. I'm so proud. Proud that I know I raised a good kid. I'm confident that she'll go places.

With her cake. The cupcakes were ready made bought in packs while the cupcake stand was made by yours truly :)

Caught her licking one of the cupcakes!

and eating the one she licked.

Birthday Cake

MellowYellowBadge

Taken on the morning of my youngest daughter Helenia's 5th Birthday. We were on a tight budget then and can't afford to give a party for her. We told  Helenia about it ahead of time and she understood the situation. She didn't even feel bad about the thought that we won't be celebrating her birthday. But God is good. Goldilocks invited me to their anniversary and gave me this cake. Actually it was just a bare mocha care and I just put the decorations and the candle. My Helenia was so happy when she woke up and found this cake beside her bed.

Free Jollibee Joy Breakfast Meals for you and your family

How do you start your day right? For me of course, praying comes first. Nothing beats the power of prayers. It doesn't need to be long and memorized. It's just like talking to someone you knew. After all, God know our thoughts and who knows, He might grant us our wishes. Second is exercise. Exercising helps us burn fats, increase our blood flow, and makes us feel stronger and younger. A simple stretching and bending will do. Then lastly,Eating. Eating is one of the pleasurable things that life has to offer. A joyous breakfast to share with my loved-ones is something I look forward to everyday. Especially if we will be treated for a free Jollibee Joy Breakfast Meals and will be delivered directly to our home.

Good thing Jollibee and Certified Foodies are giving us a chance to win 5 Jollibee Joy Breakfast Meals to share with our families. Those who like to join can go to Facebook pages of Jollibee and Certified Foodies and choose which breakfast meals you like and why.

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

I’ve been busy with work yesterday that I never had a chance to make a Wednesday Happy Thoughts Post. I planned to make it when I got home but too bad I left my laptop in the office. But still nothing can stop me from counting my joys and forget all my troubles. I believe that life has a lot of happiness in store for me. But it doesn’t mean that everything in my life is perfect, it’s just that I’ve decided to look beyond life’s imperfections. Here’s what gave me happiness this past week:

1.       I finished painting the kid’s room pink, beautifully!
2.       I won Bubble White Board Magnets at Doozedad!
3.       Stanley’s sister Star gave me lots of gifts from Qatar plus cash! I love you star!
4.       Stanley took us to hear mass last Sunday, for the first time! Thank God!
5.       The chance of visiting La Union again
6.       Free lunches at my boss’ house
7.       Purple nail polish!
8.       The opportunity of having our own business, oh yeah!
9.       The thought of having my own car too soon!
10.   900gms of Appeton for my Tala!

Olive Ridley

Common Name: Olive Ridley, Pacific Ridley;
Scientific Name: Lepidochelys olivacea

Population: Approx. 800,000 nesting females
The were once butchered for food or accessories, now Olive Ridleys are getting into extinction  and all over the world efforts were made to protect them as well as their habitat

Illegal fishing practices like dynamiting, cyaniding, illegal netting and harvesting the eggs of olive ridleys in our local waters have been rampant, thus there’s a high mortality of adult olive ridleys.

We at Punta Fuego, together with the Nasugbu government, SM Development and all the local barangays have been working together in recruiting and training Bantay Dagat organizations in each of our barangays, who will work with the Nasugbu Police to apprehend and penalize people caught participating in illegal fishing practices and establishing a number of Marine Sanctuaries where no boats and no fishing will be allowed so that the coral reefs and fisheries can be protected and flourish

Here are some facts about Olive Ridley:

1.      They look very similar to its sister specie, Kemp's ridley, but has a deeper body and slightly up-turned edges to its carapace.

2.      They are migratory, often travelling thousands of kilometers between feeding and nesting sites.

3.      The average length is 70 cm, and adults weigh approximately 45 kg.

4.      Overall color is olive green.

5.      Found in the Pacific and Indian Oceans, along the Atlantic coasts of West Africa and the Atlantic coasts of South America

I have been in Punta Fuego for 7 years and I have seen a dramatic reduction the the fisheries and destruction of our coral reefs. If something isn’t done about it soon, there will be no more Olive Ridleys to worry about.

If any of you would like to get more involved in working on these activities, your participation would be most welcome. You can contact Save the Oceans thru info@puntafuegovillage.com. We appreciate your interest in these activities and thank you in advance for whatever you would be willing to do to support this work.

A Chandelier

MellowYellowBadge

The chandelier originated from the French word "chandelle" which means something attached to the ceiling and holds a lot of candles. Unlike in the early years that they were basically found in churches, chandeliers are now found hanging to provide light in the dining areas of many homes.  This is the yellow chandelier of Amansinaya Resorts, hanging in the dome of their dining area and surrounded by small yellow windows. The staff there said that the candles were never lit since the chandelier was hung so high. But no worries, they were safely and securely installed. Happy Mellow Yellow Monday!
